I so hope we get the snow they are calling for! The students really need a break even if it is for only a day or two.
Last week in reading, our focus was on causes and effects. This week we focused on the qualities that make up a pourquoi tale. The assessment for Causes and Effects / Pourquois tales will be Tuesday the 14th. Please have your child return the study guide by Monday so we can review it. I have not had a chance to put the reading homework on my webpage. I hope to get to it this weekend.
For Virginia Studies, we started the unit on the Civil War. We made flipbook about the causes of the Civil War. The packet with sections to fill in will need to be completed by the time we finish the unit. I am planning on being finished toward the end of March. Have your child study #11-19.
We began our math unit on decimals. We spent a good deal of time relating decimals to fractions. Check my webpage for additional resources. Your child also have access to the math book online. The information is on the green card. You could have them practice doing the problems in the book. Students will need to know how to read, write, represent and identify decimals expressed through thousandths, round decimals to the nearest whole number, tenth and hundredths, compare and order fractions, write the fractional equivalents, add and subtract decimals, and solve single and multi-step problems.
Our next unit will be Electricity. Have your child study #1-10. There will be a quiz on Friday, the 17th.
