Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season.
Well it's back to business again. Your child came home with a study guide for Matter this week. The test will take place on Friday, Jan 13th. If you did not get this paper, please let me know. Today the children came home with a writing prompt in their green folder and their spelling words. The spelling words are also available on Spellingcity.com for practice.
Our focus in math at present is graphing and probability. In language arts our metacognitive strategies are: Making Connections and Inferencing - making an inference means figuring out something that is not stated directlly in a text. The writing prompt is based on this strategy this week.
Next week the whole school will begin to read School Days according to Humphrey by Betty G. Birney. This program is called: One School, One Book. After we have completed reading the book in class, your child can take the book home to read to you. Each day we will complete one chapter and discuss the message that the author is conveying in the story.
Have a great weekend and stay warm!
