About the Counselors

Ms. Riley

Ms. Riley is a Pennsylvania native who has worked in Prince William County for 15 years. She received her Bachelors of Science in Psychology and Masters of Science in School Counseling from Marywood University. Ms. Riley is not new to Alvey, she was the itinerant school counselor eight years ago and is happily returning as the full-time school counselor. She previously worked as the school counselor at Signal Hill Elementary. Spending time with her two children and her puppy, sleeping, shopping, and reading a good book are just a few things she enjoys.

Mrs. Maresh

Mrs. Maresh is a Virginia native who grew up attending schools in Prince William County.  She received her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from George Mason University and a Masters of Science in Counseling from California State University, Long Beach.  Mrs. Maresh is happily returning to Alvey full-time, she was the part-time itinerant a few years ago. She previously worked as the school counselor for West Gate Elementary. Spending time with her two boys and husband, baking, traveling and shopping are a few things she loves.

School Counseling Program Vision Statement: The J.W. Alvey Elementary School Counseling Program envisions a future in which all students learn to their fullest potential, achieve their goals, and succeed in life. In their time at Alvey, students achieve academically, grow personally, develop socially, and build career readiness. Graduates of Alvey are successful lifelong learners, as well as productive citizens and leaders in the community.
