Singing Sunrays

The Alvey Singing Sunrays is an extracurricular choral group. All fourth and fifth grade students are eligible to join at the beginning of the fall and/or the spring semester.

Chorus practice is held each Monday afternoon from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Parents may pick up their children at 4:30 in the Bus Loop.

Traditionally, the Singing Sunrays demonstrate their hard work at two concerts each year: a winter concert (often including holiday music), and a themed spring concert. Past spring themes have included a decade review, songs from Broadway musicals, Oscar-winning songs, Disney, and television theme songs.

The Singing Sunrays have been invited to perform at regional events, such as School Board or community organization meetings. They were proud to perform at the National Dedication of the Pentagon Memorial, which was broadcast nationwide.

Chris Morris, Alvey music teacher, is the director of the Singing Sunrays. The following Alvey staff members are choral assistants:

  • Jennifer Fisher
  • Marissa Pac
  • Jen Cimilluca

The concerts also feature the Alvey Dancing Sunrays.  Students may audition to participate in group dance perfomances duirng the winter and the spring concerts.  Dancing Sunrays meet on Friday mornings before school.
